06 April 2015 - Foreign Affairs Secretary and Chair of the Board of the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) Albert F. del Rosario today presented a resolution expressing the Board’s profound gratitude to Philippine Special Envoy to China, Mr. Carlos Chan, for the latter’s generous donation to the FSI.
The FSI Board named training rooms 558-559 as the Special Envoy Carlos Chan Room. Special Envoy Chan’s contribution to the Institute, amounting to Php 3 million, will be used to further upgrade the classrooms, library, and offices as well as purchase computers, printers, audio visual equipment, webcasting equipment, student desks and chairs, and foreign language training materials.
During the presentation at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Secretary Del Rosario thanked Mr. Chan for his generosity. The Secretary also commended the FSI for its efforts in establishing linkages and securing contributions from friends of the Institute.
DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Jesus I. Yabes, Assistant Secretary Minda Calaguian-Cruz and Executive Director Aileen Mendiola-Rau of the Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs, and Chief Coordinator Ma. Theresa Dizon-De Vega attended the presentation. FSI Director-General Carlos D. Sorreta, Deputy Director-General Julio S. Amador III, Carlos P. Romulo School of Diplomacy Head Marichu C. Liwanag, Center for International Relations and Strategic Studies Head Maria Anna Rowena G. Layador, Administrative and Financial Services Division Head Carmelita S. Marasigan and FSI Board Secretary Rowena C. Villanueva were also present.
The FSI Board is composed of Secretary Del Rosario as Chair with Director-General Sorreta, Civil Service Commissioner Robert S. Martinez, Development Academy of the Philippines President Antonio D. Kalaw Jr., and University of the Philippines President Alfredo E. Pascual as members.
The FSI is the prime training and research institute for Philippine foreign policy, diplomacy, and related fields and a recognized center for language learning.
