26 June 2015 – Pursuing its vision of providing service to the public in the most responsive and effective way, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) formally inaugurated DFA RCO Butuan in Robinsons Place-Butuan on June 21, its 8th consular office partnered with Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC).
DFA Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Concerns Rafael E. Seguis led the inauguration ceremonies. The inauguration was also graced by RLC Operations Manager for Luzon, Mr. Irwin Wu, Vice Governor Santiago B. Cane, Jr. (Agusan del Sur), Mayor Ernesto T. Matugas (Surigao City), the Hon. Jose S. Aquino II, and other officials of CARAGA, as well as various academics and business leaders in the region.
In his message, Undersecretary Seguis said, “Now, we expect the transfer of the RCO Butuan to Robinsons Place will not only make our office more accessible and convenient but also provide world-class consular services to the residents of the city of Butuan and the whole of the CARAGA Region. As an important city in CARAGA, as well as being significant in the history of the Philippines, we are proud to say that having RCO Butuan located at Robinsons Place gives the people of CARAGA the consular services they deserve.
Also speaking in the inauguration was Consular Affairs (DFA-OCA) Assistant Secretary Frank R. Cimafranca, who referred to the DFA’s efforts to be responsive to the needs of the people, added, “Our Secretary of Foreign Affairs, the Honorable Albert F. del Rosario, has called us to serve the public with a smile and to reach beyond our grasp when it comes to the delivery of consular services. We wish to assure you that we will remain faithful in this task.”
DFA RCO Butuan is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Mondays to Saturdays, and accepts new passport applications, passport renewals and replacement of lost passports.
DFA’s newest mall-transferred RCO aims to cater to applicants in Butuan City and the rest of the CARAGA Region and is currently headed by its OIC, Mr. Sayrads Macalawi.
