06 July 2015 – The final installment of the 3-part documentary series on the West Philippine Sea (WPS), “KALAYAAN,” will debut online at 7:00 p.m. today, July 06, via the official Facebook account of the President (www.facebook.com/presidentnoy) and the official Facebook account of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) (www.facebook.com/dfaphl).
Episode 03, entitled “Paninindigan Para sa Karagatan,” caps the series with a presentation of the legal angle of the WPS issue. The episode features Atty. Henry S. Bensurto, Jr., Philippine Consul General in San Francisco and Head of the DFA Legal Team on the West Philippine Sea; Hon. Associate Justice Francis H. Jardeleza and Hon. Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio of the Supreme Court of the Philippines.
The third episode of “KALAYAAN” aims to inform the audience about the Philippine position and the significance of filing an arbitration case to UNCLOS. This completes the discussion of economic, historical and legal angles of the WPS issue in order to raise public awareness, which is the intended goal for creating the documentary. “KALAYAAN” is part of the nationwide Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign of the DFA to increase the level of public awareness and understanding of the issues relating to the West Philippine Sea.
Following the social media launch, “Paninindigan Para sa Karagatan will be aired on People’s Television Network (PTV-4) with the following schedule:
Episode 03: Paninindigan Para sa Karagatan July 7 – 10 5:30 p.m.
July 11 3:30 p.m.
July 12 1:00 p.m.
Replays of the three episodes will be aired on PTV-4 up to July 22.
“KALAYAAN” is directed by RA Rivera, Jr. and hosted by Lourd de Veyra, together with Jun Sabayton, and produced by the DFA, in partnership with the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO). END
