23 July 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in Beirut, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), successfully repatriated 15 distressed OFWs from Lebanon on July 22.
A team composed of personnel from the Embassy’s Assistance-to-Nationals Section, Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) provided immigration, transport and airport assistance to the 15 OFWs who had been sheltered by the Embassy for the past few months.
The successful repatriation was made possible with the assistance of IOM, who sponsored the plane tickets and joined the Embassy team in helping board the workers via Gulf Air Flight GF 910.
The OFWs are scheduled to arrive in Manila on July 23 via Gulf Air Flight 154, to be met by the Department of Foreign Affairs – Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs (DFA-OUMWA), OWWA, and IOM-Manila. END
