10 October 2015 – The Department of Foreign Affairs - Overseas Voting Secretariat (DFA-OVS) and COMELEC announced on October 09 that they signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with ABS-CBN’s The Filipino Channel (TFC) at the Eugenio Lopez Communications Center in Quezon City to enhance overseas voting awareness in view of the coming 2016 Presidential elections.
This agreement between DFA-OVS, COMELEC, and TFC could further boost efforts in informing the public about the overseas voting system and procedures, and in emphasizing the importance of politically empowering Filipinos both here and abroad.
All Filipino citizens who expect to be abroad during the thirty day overseas voting period for the 2016 Presidential Elections (from 09 April to 09 May 2016) and not otherwise disqualified by law may personally register as an overseas voter at any Philippine Foreign Service Post (FSP), including the three Manila Economic and Cultural Offices (MECO), 15 overseas voting registration centers (OVRCs) in the Philippines, or at other COMELEC-approved field/mobile registration centers.
