Quirino Exhibit

28 October 2015 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), in partnership with the President Elpidio Quirino Foundation, hosted the launching of activities commemorating the 125th Birth Anniversary of President Elpidio Quirino on October 28.

A photo exhibit depicting the life and times of Elpidio Quirino was ceremonially opened at the Main Lobby of the DFA Building by Acting Secretary of Foreign Affairs Jesus Yabes together with the family members of President Quirino, namely, Atty. Lila Quirino, Ms. Ruby Quirino Gonzalez Meyer, and Ms. Cory Quirino.

University of the Philippines Professor Ricardo Jose, PhD gave a lecture entitled, “Elpidio Quirino’s Role in the Framing of Philippine Foreign Policy,” followed at the Bulwagang Apolinario Mabini.

Elpidio Quirino was the Secretary of Foreign Affairs from September 1946 to April 1948 when he was vice president during the presidency of Manuel Roxas at a time when the Philippines was a fledgling nation reeling off from the ravages and devastation of the Second World War.

The main commemorative celebration will be held in Vigan, Ilocos Sur on November 16. END
