08 December 2015 - The Department of Foreign Affairs Regional Consular Office Iloilo (DFA RCO-Iloilo) observed the nationwide 18-day campaign to end violence against women (VAW) by having an outreach program on November 28 at ”Daeangpan it Kababayen-an sa Aklan” or Aklan Comprehensive Center for Women in Kalibo, Aklan. The DFA Iloilo team headed by Ms. Mydee de la Cruz Homena welcomed the 30 women participants who were victim-survivors of VAW and talked about the importance of the 18-day Campaign to End VAW. During the activity, the participants also enjoyed the refreshments and games prepared by the team. They also donated goods for the victim-survivors of VAW.
In addition to the outreach program, DFA Iloilo personnel also attended a lecture entitled “Capability Building of DFA Iloilo Personnel in Assisting Victims of Violence Against Women and Children” on November 30 at Seda Atria Hotel, Iloilo City conducted by P/Supt. Ma. Cecilia R. Detablan (Ret) as resource speaker. The lecture was organized in support of the gender and development (GAD) initiatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs. END
