29 January 2016 - As a result of the diplomatic tension between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that impinge upon the safety and security of overseas Filipinos, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) called a Command Conference attended by Philippine Ambassadors and Consuls General in the Middle East and North Africa.
During the conference held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from 20 to 23 January 2016, contingency plans for the evacuation and repatriation of overseas Filipinos were vetted for comprehensiveness, feasibility and efficiency.
