1 March 2016 – In pursuit of its vision to provide efficient services to the public in the most responsive and effective way, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) formally signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the hosting of the DFA’s Regional Consular Office in San Fernando, La Union on February 26 – its 17th Regional Consular Office under the Public-Private Partnership Agreement and first consular office partnered with La Union Sky Mall Corporation (LUSM). 

On behalf of DFA Secretary Albert F. del Rosario, Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Concerns (OUCSCC) Rafael E. Seguis, signed the MOA, while Ms. Vina Tanyao, Chief Finance Officer, signed for LUSM. The signing ceremony was also graced by LUSM Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jose Tanyao, and other officials of the Department and LUSM Corp.

In his message, Undersecretary Seguis stated that the venture binds the DFA and LUSM in an agreement which will enable them to provide excellent consular services closer to Filipinos, particularly in San Fernando, La Union.

The CEO of LUSM, Mr. Jose Tanyao, for his part stated that the LUSM and the DFA will endeavor to work as one family in giving the best service to the public. He looked forward to a long-lasting, fruitful and successful relationship with the DFA.

The transfer of the San Fernando, La Union Regional Consular Office to Manna Mall aims to serve applicants in Region I more efficiently by bringing DFA’s services closer to the people. END
