The Philippines condemns in the strongest terms the suicide attack on Pul-e-Mahmood Khan in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The violent incident took the lives of at least 28 people and injured over 300, mostly women and children.

Such a cowardly act has no place in civilized society.

The Philippines extends its sincere sympathies to those who lost their loved ones and friends to this tragic incident.

The Philippine Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan which has jurisdiction over Afghanistan continues to monitor the situation and is ready to provide assistance to Filipino nationals who may be affected by the incident.

The Department of Foreign Affairs’ Alert Level 3 (voluntary repatriation) remains in effect over Afghanistan.  END
