06 May 2016 - 23 Filipinos from Syria who availed of the Government’s Mandatory Repatriation Programme (MRP) are set to arrive in the Philippines on May 12, 4:00 PM on board flight QR 932 at the Terminal 1 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The repatriation of the 23 Filipinos was made possible through the joint effort and collaboration of the Philippine Embassies in Damascus, Syria and Beirut, Lebanon, with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). IOM-Damascus shouldered the airfare costs of the Filipinos.
The new batch of repatriates brings the total number of Filipinos repatriated from Syria to 5,814 since the unrest erupted in 2011.
With the MRP still in place, the Philippine Embassy in Damascus strongly urges the next-of-kin of Filipino workers who remain in Syria to provide information on their family member’s whereabouts so that immediate assistance can be extended to them.
