07 May 2016 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Embassy of the State of Israel in Manila co-hosted a photo exhibition on May 05 at the DFA Lobby to commemorate the Holocaust.

The commemoration is in line with a United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Resolution adopted in 2005 which calls for an annual International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust.

A Prayer of Mourning led by Rabbi Eliyahu Azaria, followed by a Foreign Service Institute (FSI) Mabini Dialogue Series lecture on “Understanding the Holocaust” by Ms. Angelica Rose Noel, a young scholar on Holocaust Studies from the University of Haifa in Israel, were held during the commemoration. “Open Doors,” a video clip on the invaluable role of former Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon in helping 1,300 Jews to escape the Holocaust, was also featured.

The Holocaust photo exhibition is available for viewing at the DFA Lobby until May 12. END
