PH Embassy Leads 56th ASEAN Day in Norway

OSLO 10 August 2023 - The Philippine Embassy in Norway, as chair of the ASEAN Committee in Oslo (ACO), led the commemoration of the 56th Founding Anniversary of the ASEAN held at the Embassy chancery.

Joining the event were Myanmar Ambassador Maw Maw, Thailand Ambassador Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Vietnam Ambassador Nho Hung Dinh, Indonesia Charged' Affaires, a.i. Hendra Oktavianus, and members of their Embassies.

In his welcome remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Norway and ACO Chairperson Enrico T. Fos highlighted the importance of regional cooperation in addressing current challenges and charting the future.

"Today we commemorate our regional collaboration in addressing shared challenges and fostering economic growth and cultural understanding. We remember the fundamental principles of ASEAN and recall its aims and purposes, and celebrate them today," he said.

The event was also marked with the singing of the ASEAN hymn, photo opportunity with the ASEAN handshake and a simple reception.

The ACO is composed of the Embassies of Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, the ASEAN countries which have resident missions in Norway. It undertakes initiatives and events to promote the regional bloc in the country, and promote camaraderie among its members. END
