PH Ambassador Joins ASEAN Counterparts in Abu Dhabi in Commemoration of the 56th Anniversary of ASEAN

ABU DHABI 10 August 2023 – Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Alfonso A. Ver took part in the commemoration of the 56th anniversary of ASEAN by the seven-member ASEAN Committee in Abu Dhabi (ACAD) comprised of Embassies from ASEAN member countries accredited to the UAE. Hosted by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the UAE, H.E. Komate Kamalanavin, current Chairperson of ACAD, at their Chancery, the event was highlighted by a meeting of ACAD on proposed activities under consideration by the UAE Foreign Ministry followed by the ceremonial cutting of the cake by the respective Ambassadors and Charge d'Affaires.
Ambassador Ver shared at the meeting the preparations being undertaken by the Philippines for the ASEAN-UAE Sectoral Dialogue Partnership Practical Cooperation Areas (2023-2027), and expressed hope that ACAD will play an important role in spurring deeper and meaningful ASEAN-UAE cooperation in the years to come. ACAD agreed unanimously and renewed their commitment to the principles and aims of ASEAN. END
The ASEAN family in Abu Dhabi comprises the ASEAN diplomats from the seven (7) ACAD member countries in the UAE namely Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
