Philippine Embassy in Mexico Joins 57th ASEAN Day Celebration

MEXICO CITY 12 August 2024 - The Philippine Embassy in Mexico led by Ambassador Lilybeth R. Deapera joined the celebration of the 57th ASEAN Day hosted by the Embassy of Indonesia as the current chair of the ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC) in its premises on 08 August 2024.
Second Secretary and Consul Ralf G. Roldan, Protocol Officer Vincent John Ruiz, and Assistant/Attaché Mary Therese Jose accompanied Ambassador Deapera.
At least 40 guests were invited from the diplomatic corps, the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Mexican Chamber of Deputies, local government officials from Mexico City and Miguel Hidalgo municipality, and from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The celebration kickstarted with a flag raising ceremony, followed by the reading of the message of ASEAN Secretary General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn by Indonesian Ambassador Cheppy T. Wartono.
The program proceeded with the luncheon where Serbian Ambassador Tatjana Conić and SRE Director General for Asia Pacific Fernando Gonzalez Saiffe gave brief remarks on their country's experience on the accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC).
The lunch featured representative dishes prepared by the five members of the ACMC, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam. The Philippines showcased chicken adobo and turon which were well-received by the guests. END.
