PH Embassy in Bahrain Commemorates 57th ASEAN Anniversary

MANAMA 16 August 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Manama organized an ASEAN Flag Raising Ceremony at the Embassy grounds on 13 August 2024 in commemoration of the 57th Anniversary of ASEAN with the theme, “ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience.”
In her opening remarks, Ambassador Louis noted the friendly relations between ASEAN and Bahrain and between ASEAN and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). She also noted Bahrain’s continued commitment to enhancing its engagement with ASEAN.
Meanwhile, in his speech on the occasion, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa congratulated the ASEAN on its 57th anniversary and praised the cooperation and partnership between Bahrain and the ASEAN member countries. He also highlighted Bahrain’s continued efforts to further engage with the ASEAN as a region as well as with the ASEAN member countries.
Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain Anne Jalando-on Louis currently chairs the ASEAN Committee Manama, Bahrain (ACMB). The other ACMB Heads of Mission are Malaysian Ambassador Shazryll Zahiran, Indonesian Ambassador Ardi Hermawan, Thai Charge d’affaires Nuttapatt Chumnijarakij, Bruneian Charge d’affaires Roslan Johari. Additionally, the Guest of Honor at the ceremony was Undersecretary for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
Others present at the event were Singaporean Ambassador S. Premjith and Burmese Ambassador U Tin Yu, who are both based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and are both non-resident Ambassadors to the Kingdom of Bahrain. Mr. Hatem Abdulhameed Hatem, Chief of the Organizations Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, representatives from the ASEAN Bahrain Council, and officials from the ASEAN Missions in the Kingdom of Bahrain were also at the event.
The ceremony was followed by refreshments that featured the food of the ACMB member countries. END
