PH Shines at the ASEAN Plus Festival 2024 in Mexico City

MEXICO 11 September 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Mexico participated at the ASEAN Plus Festival held at Teatro Angela Peralta in Polanco, Mexico City on 08 September 2024.

Under the chairmanship of the Embassy of Indonesia of the ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC), the event successfully showcased to hundreds of visitors the gastronomy and cultural performances of the nine (9) participating countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Viet Nam, South Korea, Japan, Australia and India.

Mrs. Carol Jefferson, a member of the Filipino Community in Mexico, took charge of the Philippine booth and sold crowd-favorite Filipino dishes such as pancit, puto, lumpia, barbecue, and buko pandan, among others.

For its cultural presentation, the Philippines presented an Arnis demonstration led by Guro Alejandro Lopez Mena of the Sistemas de Defensa Personal Urbana, and a medley of Muslim dances performed by Assistant/Attaché Mary Therese Jose and receptionist Ms. Opalyn P. dela Cruz.

A raffle draw was likewise held to raise funds for the projects of the ACMC. The Philippine Embassy in Mexico extends its heartfelt appreciation to Contecon Manzanillo, Casa Pedro Domecq, Colgate-Palmolive and Heineken, for their invaluable support to this endeavor.  END.
