PHL Embassy in Rome Commemorates ASEAN 50
Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo Nolasco gives a short remark during the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the Philippine Embassy in Rome on 07 August 2017.
08 August 2017 ROME – The Philippine Embassy in Rome together with the Filipino community in Italy commemorated the 50th year of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) with a short program at the Embassy’s consular section.
Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco recalled the establishment of the regional organization, anchored in friendship, solidarity and cooperation five decades ago in Bangkok, Thailand. He shared to the members of the Filipino community information on the ASEAN and underscored the importance and relevance of the regional grouping to every Filipino.
“ASEAN, composed of three pillars, promotes cooperation on issues of common interests and facilitates economic growth, social progress and cultural development in the region,” he explained.
As part of the commemoration, the Embassy organized a simple exhibit, featuring information on the 10-member organization. The exhibit aims to increase awareness among the members of the Filipino community in Italy on the regional organization. The exhibit will run from August 07 to 18.
