11 August 2017 ROME – Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco joined the other ASEAN Ambassadors in Rome, in commemorating the 50 years of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in a ceremony held at the Thai Embassy in Rome. Thai Ambassador Tana Weskosith, current Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Rome (ACR), hosted the celebration.

The 50th anniversary of the ASEAN was commemorated with the singing of the ASEAN Hymn and a speech from Ambassador Weskosith. In his remarks, the Thai Ambassador highlighted the progress of the regional organization from its humble beginnings five decades ago. The ceremony was concluded with a toast and a cake-cutting ceremony.

All other members of the ACR, Ambassador Esti Andayani of Indonesia, Ambassador Abdul Samad Othman of Malaysia, Ambassador Myint Naung of Myanmar and Ambassador Cao Chinh Thien of Viet Nam, were present during the celebration.
