PHL Embassy Supports the Lighting of an Iconic Landmark for ASEAN’s 50th Anniversary

11 August 2017- To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the ASEAN, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar joined the lighting activities of iconic landmark across ASEAN member states through the lighting of the Yangon City Hall.

 Ambassador Eduardo E. Kapunan, Jr. joined Myanmar officials UPhyo Min Thein, Chief Minister of Yangon, U Tin MaungTun, Speaker of Yangon Regional Hluttaw, U Win Swe, Chief Justice of Yangon Regional High Court and Yangon Mayor U MaungMaungSoe in pressing the symbolic switch to light up the Yangon City Hall with a LED presentation showcasing tourist destinations in each of the ASEAN member states.

 The Yangon City Hall is centrally located in downtown Yangon, Myanmar. The City Hall building is considered to be a fine example of Myanmar architecture. The construction of this building started in 1926 and ended in 1936. The building is enlisted on the Yangon City Heritage List.
