ASEAN Committee in Doha Celebrates ASEAN 50th

10 August 2017 DOHA - The ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD) celebrated the 50th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the Royal Thai Embassy in Doha, Qatar on August 08.
As Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Doha (ACD), the Thai Embassy hosted the Flag Raising Ceremony to celebrate the ASEAN 50th which was attended by the 7 ASEAN Heads of Mission in Qatar - Philippines, Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore Vietnam and Malaysia. The Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chief of Protocol, Ambassador Ibrahim Yousif Abdullah Fahkroo, distinguished guests from business sectors, ASEAN community leaders, members of the academe and local media also attended the celebration.
The event highlighted various opportunities not only for trade but also for long-term investments for GCC countries in the ASEAN region. Cooperation in various fields such as education and more people-to-people exchanges between ASEAN and Qatar is also a major goal of the ASEAN countries.
The ceremony also featured the ASEAN anthem and concluded with the cake-cutting and reception to celebrate the special occasion. END
