18 September 2017 - The Philippine Embassy in Ankara mounted a “national table” featuring Philippine products and tourism collateral at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Awareness Week, which will run from September 13 to 20 at the National Library of Turkey in Ankara. ASEAN Awareness Week was marked by a tree-planting activity, the inauguration of an ASEAN Room and the opening of the ASEAN@50 photo exhibit in the morning followed by a cultural program and reception in the evening.  The space was designed and is hosted by the DFA Ladies Foundation Ankara Chapter.

The national table featured products donated by Oishi and Profood International Corp. including packs of Prawn Crackers, Kirei Yummy Flakes, Potato Fries ketchup flavour, Pillows Chocolate Crackers and Sponge Crunch, as well as packets of dried mangoes.

Three “More Fun in the Philippines” posters were mounted atop easels to give color and a fun vibe to the booth which had Philippine fun maps and brochures on Philippine tourist destinations – Manila, Cebu, Bohol, Davao, Palawan and Boracay. “Maskaras” from the Department of Tourism gave the space a festive air.

The Philippine table was one of the most frequented among the ASEAN Ankara Committee (AAC) national tables during opening activities. The AAC’s guest of honor, Ambassador Ersin Erçin, Director General for Asia Pacific of Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited the booth to sample the snacks and dried mangoes and donned the maskaras. Other high-ranking officials such as the National Library’s President, Mr. Zülfi Toman and Director General for Consular Affairs of the MFA, Ambassador Mehmet Samsar were the Philippine national table’s visitors.
