27 December 2017 SAN FRANCISCO — The League of the San Francisco Consular Corps (LSFCC) held its holiday party on December 06. The League is a non-profit, apolitical, non-partisan organization founded in 1989 as the Ladies of the San Francisco Consular Corps, and was re-named in 2012.
Madame Mariza S. Bensurto, President of LSFCC, thanked the members for a memorable year. She informed the members that the event served “to remind ourselves of our mission, which is to build deep friendships among members through social, cultural and intellectual exchanges, and to engage, serve and support Bay Area charities through philanthropy.”
Mrs. Bensurto thanked the Office of the Mayor for its invaluable assistance and guidance of the Consular Corps, making it easier for members to navigate and settle down in San Francisco. Chief of Protocol of California, Ms. Charlotte Schultz, thanked the League for strengthening relations between the Consular Corps and the City of San Francisco and assured the group of the continued support of the Mayor’s Office.
The Consul General of Indonesia, Mr. Ardi Hermawan, and his spouse, Madame Yulina Hermawan, generously provided their Official Residence as a venue for the party, which was attended by close to 70 people, including Mrs. Anita Lee, the spouse of recently deceased Mayor of San Francisco, the Honorable Edwin M. Lee.
Consul General Hermawan welcomed members of LSFCC and their spouses to the Residence, and took the opportunity to inform those present of the end of his tour-of-duty. The League presented a farewell gift to the Hermawans for their kindness and generosity in supporting LSFCC, and wished the couple well on their next assignment.
The event culminated in a lunch reception and community singing. END
