PH Embassy in Yangon Celebrates Christmas with Filipino Community

YANGON 24 December 2018 –The Philippine Embassy in Yangon celebrated Christmas with Pilipinas.MM, the Filipino Community organization in Myanmar, at a red carpet-themed Christmas party on 08 December 2018 at the Grand Ballroom of the Meliã Hotel with 230 guests in attendance.
In her message, Chargé d' Affaires, a.i. Stephanie Alexis Cruz expressed her gratitude to the Filipino Community for the continuous support they have shown to Embassy events in the past year.
She also encouraged the community to be open and approach the Embassy regarding any recommendations or suggestions on programs that can be offered by the Embassy and ways to improve the Embassy’s services to the community in Myanmar.
A special video message from Ambassador Eduardo Kapunan Jr. was played, where the Ambassador discussed the importance and meaning of Christmas to Filipinos. Ambassador Kapunan shared that he is recovering well from his surgery and expressed his eagerness to be back in Myanmar to serve the Filipino community once again.
The Christmas party featured parlor games, raffle draws, and performances from Filipino performers such as Edralin Ishizaki, Ian Alcaraz, Aunty Myat, and teachers form Myanmar International School. Chargé d' Affaires Cruz also performed a piano piece to the delight of many.
The event was also attended by Embassy personnel and guests from the Philippine Normal University, namely College of Flexible Learning Dean Maria Linda Balagtas, Deputy Dean Dr. Rosario Belmi, and Mr. Romeo Reginio. END
