“We wish to take note that this year is a special occasion for Philippine-Timorese bilateral relations, being the 15th year anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries,” Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Jason Jovencio A. Anasarias said. A joint communiqué establishing diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Timor-Leste was signed by the two countries on 20 May 2002. Consul Anasarias said that the Philippines is pleased with the progress and achievements that the Philippines and Timor-Leste have achieved during the intervening period.  “We are happy to note that we have signed bilateral agreements or joint declarations with Timor-Leste in fields of political consultations, diplomacy, education, health, defense and fisheries,” said Mr. Anasarias. As proof of these strengthened relations between the two countries, the Second Philippines-Timor Leste Policy Consultation Meeting will be held in Dili on 28 June 2017.  The ceremony was followed by a festive performance of traditional Filipino songs and dances by Filipino teachers from various international schools.
