Philippine Independence Celebrated in Connecticut

09 June 2017 NEW YORK – The Filipino-American Community in Greenwich and Stratford, Connecticut celebrated the 119th anniversary of Philippine Independence at the Greenwich City Hall on June 09.

The simple rites included a flag-raising ceremony at the City Hall followed by messages from Philippine Consul General Theresa Dizon-De Vega and Connecticut officials Selectman John Toner and Selectman Drew Marsula. The officials paid tribute to the Philippine overseas community for helping to preserve their heritage and further elevating the image of Filipinos in the United States.

Consul General Dizon-De Vega acknowledged the contributions and the engagement of the Filipino community throughout Connecticut through their volunteer work, civic projects, and active participation in their communities as well as their philanthropic work in the Philippines. END
