PHL Embassy in Baghdad Celebrates 119th Phl Independence Day
19 June 17 BAGHDAD — On June 12, the 119th Anniversary of Philippine independence day was celebrated within Philippine Embassy premises in Baghdad.
Filipino dishes including pancit bihon, arroz caldo and biko were prepared and served to Embassy personnel and local hires.
The Post received flowers and greetings from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, and the Embassy of Indonesia in Iraq. Corresponding acknowledgment and ‘thank you’ letters were sent out to well-wishers.
Two simple independence day-related get-togethers will be celebrated upon the return to Post of Minister Elmer G. Cato, Chargè d’Affairès, en pied, by July; one simple get-together for the Filipino Community (FilCom) in Baghdad and another one for the FilCom in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
