PHL Embassy in Paris, Filipino Community Leaders of Paris Raise Philippine Flag in Celebration of 119th PHL Independence Day
23 June 2017 PARIS — The leaders of the Filipino Community in Paris joined Philippine Ambassador Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro and the Philippine Embassy officers & staff in the flag-raising ceremony held at the chancery in Paris in celebration of the 119th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence.
A mass was celebrated by Msgr. Don Vito Pavilando of the Philippine Chaplaincy, followed by a programme that started with the singing of Philippine National Anthem and the reading of the messages of President Rodrigo R. Duterte and the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Alan Peter S. Cayetano. Flowers were also offered to the bust of Dr. Jose Rizal at the Embassy, in commemoration of his vital role in the country’s struggle for independence.
This gathering marks the beginning of this year’s Philippine Independence Day celebrations in France which will culminate in the community’s annual Filipino fair “Pista Sa Paris” to be held on July 1 and 2.
