PHL Embassy in Riyadh Celebrates Philippine Independence
23 June 2017 RIYADH — The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh celebrated the 119th Anniversary of the declaration of Philippine independence on June 12 at the Philippine Embassy Chancery with Charge d’ Affaires, a.i. Iric C. Arribas leading the flag raising ceremony at the Liwasang Bonifacio Grounds together with the officers and personnel of the Philippine Embassy.
During the short program, Charge d’ Affaires, a.i. Iric C. Arribas read the message of President Rodrigo R. Duterte, First Secretary and Consul Christopher Patrick T. Aro read the message from the Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alan Peter Schrumm Cayetano, First Secretary and Consul Mary Jennifer D. Dingal read the message from the Secretary of Trade and Industry Ramon M. Lopez, and Newly-arrived Labor Attaché Nasser S. Mustafa read the message from the Secretary of Labor and Employment Silvestre H. Bello III.
The celebration included the opening of the Hagod Art Exhibit. In the evening, a celebration with the Filipino Community was held with presentations featuring Philippine culture, heritage and arts through performances by the various Filipino artist groups in Riyadh were the highlights of the program. Philippine history was presented to the audience through songs and dances organized by the Filipino performers.
The Philippine Embassy appreciated the participation of the Filipino community groups and will continue to support Filipino artists toward establishing and promoting our cultural traditions.
