Filipino Community in Myanmar Celebrates 119th Philippine Independence Day

23 June 2017 YANGON — The Philippine Embassy in Myanmar celebrated the 119th Anniversary of Philippine Independence with the Filipino Community on June 11 at the Chatrium Hotel in Yangon.

Ambassador Eduardo E. Kapunan, Jr. thanked the Filipinos in Myanmar for contributing to the development of the Philippines and furthering its relations with Myanmar through their skills and talents. He also introduced the embassy officers and staff to the Filipino Community.

The event was attended by 220 Filipinos. Filipino performers in Yangon joined the Baihana Jazz Trio, an all-female vocal trio with members, Krina Cayabyab, Anna Graham, and Melinda Torre from the Philippines, and whose trip to Myanmar was made possible in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, in rendering various Filipino songs and dances, including the song Anak with selected lines sung in each of the ten ASEAN languages.
