PHL Embassy Celebrates 119th Phl Independence Day with Filipino Community in Abu Dhabi
Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Constancio R. Vingno, Jr. led the ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the program for the 119th Philippine Independence Day Celebration of the Filipino community in Abu Dhabi on June 30 at the Khalidiyah Mall, Abu Dhabi.
13 July 2017 ABU DHABI — The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi celebrated the 119th Anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence with the Filipino community on June 30 at the Khalidiyah Mall, Abu Dhabi where 2,000 Filipinos attended.
The celebration was organized by the Bayanihan Council, the umbrella organization of all Filipino organizations in Abu Dhabi, with the support of Lulu Group International, Khalidiyah Mall, and the Philippine Embassy.
Ambassador Vingno recalled the courage, sacrifice and heroism of Filipino forefathers who fought for Philippine independence. He said that this year’s theme “Kalayaan 2017: Pagbabagong Sama-Samang Balikatin” reminds citizens to remain united in effecting change in the country.
The event featured a Job Fair, Medical Mission, the Bayanihan Mix Media Art Expression Competition, On-the-Spot Painting Contest, art exhibit by the Philippine Ladies’ Circle – Abu Dhabi, and auditions for Tawag ng Tanghalan.
