Independence Day Celebration Features Filipino Artists in Jordan

14 July 2017 AMMAN — The Philippine Embassy in Amman celebrated the 119th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence on June 16 at the new Embassy premises. The celebration included the inauguration of the new chancery, an exhibit of art works of Filipino artists in Jordan, and the performance of World Championships of Performing Arts 2015 Division Champion for Opera Ms. Francis Anne Virtudazo.

The occasion was graced by the ASEAN Ambassadors in Jordan composed of the Ambassadors of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand who all took part in the ribbon-cutting and cake-cutting ceremonies.

Six artists, namely Elmer Dumlao, a renowned Filipino artist in Jordan, Ayah Al Hyari, Jean Ciaro Ibarra, Med Guinto, Philippine Ambassador Junever Mahilum-West and her spouse, John West participated in the exhibit. The art exhibit at the Embassy will run until July 17.

Most of the guests who attended the event were leaders of Filipino community associations and some members of the diplomatic corps.

The Independence Day messages of President Rodrigo Duterte, DFA Secretary Allan Peter Cayetano and DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III were also read during the occasion.
