 Filipinos in Jakarta Celebrates PH Independence Day

JAKARTA 13 June 2018 — The Philippines Embassy in Indonesia, the Philippine Permanent Mission to ASEAN, and members of the Filipino community in Jakarta celebrated the 120th Anniversary of Philippine Independence at the Embassy grounds on 12 June 2018.

Ambassador to Indonesia Lee Hiong T. Wee read the Independence Day Message of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. In his message, President Duterte recalled the solidarity and heroism of our ancestors, and hoped that it would inspire Filipinos to defend our cherished democratic ideals.

Deputy Permanent Representative to ASEAN Mr. Noel M. Novicio delivered the Independence Day Message of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano. Meanwhile, Defense Attache Captain Zosimo Bolanos PN (GSC) read the message of National Defense Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana, while Commercial Attache Jeremiah Reyes read the message of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez.

The Embassy’s Independence Day activities included a flag-raising ceremony, the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, and a modest breakfast gathering featuring Filipino dishes. END
