Los Angeles City Council Declares June 12 as PH Independence Day in L.A.
Consul Rea G. Oreta addresses the members of the Los Angeles City Council during the 120th anniversary of Philippine independence day, with a proclamation from the Council members on 09 June 2018.
LOS ANGELES 25 June 2018 – Consul Rea G. Oreta attended the Los Angeles City Council session at John Ferraro Council Chamber, honoring the 120th anniversary of Philippine independence with a proclamation from the Council members on 09 June 2018.
District 13 Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell and District 14 Councilmember Jose Huizar presented the resolution, declaring the City’s commemoration of 12 June 2018 as the 120th Anniversary of Philippine Independence, which was signed by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and all 15 members of the Los Angeles City Council.
During her remarks to the City Council, Consul Oreta conveyed the Consulate General’s sincerest appreciation for the City’s recognition of the presence of the 124,747 Filipino Americans in L.A. and their contributions, not only to the city’s economic development, but also in shaping the socio-cultural fabric of the City.
