DFA Consular Office in La Union Celebrates PH Independence Day

LA UNION 29 June 2018 - The Consular Office (CO) La Union of the Department of Foreign Affairs joined the nation in the celebration of Philippine Independence Day in a flag-raising ceremony with its officers and staff, spearheaded by Officer-In-Charge Estellita V. Casuga, together with the passport applicants at the CO La Union’s office at Manna Mall, San Fernando City on 11 June 2018.

The event commenced with the singing of the National Anthem, a recitation of the “Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas,” and the singing of the ASEAN Hymn.

Officer-in-Charge Casuga read the message of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano, followed by the officers and staff’s work prayer and recitation of “Panunumpa ng Kawani ng Gobyerno.”

On 12 June 2018, in front of the San Fernando City Hall, CO La Union’s officers and staff participated in the Kalayaan 2018 celebration of the City Government of San Fernando, La Union, led by Provincial Governor Emmanuel Francisco Ortega “Pacoy” R. Ortega III and Mayor Hermenegildo “Dong” Gualberto, together with personnel from regional and provincial government agencies, private entities, and students in San Fernando. 

In their speeches, Governor Ortega stated, “Let’s join one another and come together as one for a better Philippines,” while Mayor Gualberto opined, “the essence and meaning of our Independence Day: our sense of community, our sense of unity and our sense of oneness.” END
