PH Embassy in Iraq Celebrates Independence Day
The Philippine Embassy in Iraq led by Chargé d’Affaires, en pied Julius D. Torres hosts breakfast for the Filipino Community in Baghdad, Iraq.
BAGHDAD 03 July 2018 — The Philippine Embassy in Baghdad, in cooperation with members of the Filipino Association in Baghdad, held the Filipino Community celebration of Kalayaan 2018 at the Embassy Chancery, in celebration of the 120th anniversary of Philippine independence on 15 June 2018.
The occasion served as a get-together for Embassy personnel and local hires, Filipino office staff, skilled workers, and technical personnel, living and working within Baghdad’s Green Zone.
The celebration commenced with Chargé d’Affaires Julius D. Torres thanking everyone for celebrating this significant event with their fellow “kababayans.” He lauded the community leaders for their continued and invaluable support of the Embassy’s programs and activities.
After the singing of the National Anthem, the Consul General also read the Independence Day message of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, while the message from Foreign Affairs Secretary Allan Peter S. Cayetano was read by Vice Consul Jomar T. Sadie.
Festive OPM played on the background while a simple almusal was served to all attendees. END
