Filipino Community in Cyprus Celebrates Kalayaan 2018

ATHENS 03 July 2018 – The Philippine Independence Day Committee in Cyprus, headed by Chairperson, Ester Beatty, organized the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine independence at the Zena Palace Cinema in Nicosia, Cyprus on 24 June 2018.

During the event, Filipinos in Cyprus also marked the commemoration of Philippine Migrant Workers Day.

Officials of the Philippine Embassy in Athens, Greece came in full force to grace the event, headed by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Rosario P. Lemque, Second Secretary and Consul Judy Barbara G. Robianes, Labor Attaché Melchor B. Dizon, and Welfare Officer Rosalia S. Bahia-Catapang.

Philippine Honorary Consul Shemaine Bushnell-Kyriakides also attended the event, and assisted the Filipino Community leader in handing out Certificates of Appreciation to the Office of Nicosia Mayor Constantinos Yiorkadjis, the Nicosia Municipality Multifunctional Foundation, and some private entities that assisted in the successful celebration of the National Day and Migrant Workers Day.
