PH Embassy in Hungary Holds Independence Day Diplomatic Reception

BUDAPEST 04 July 2018 – The Philippine Embassy in Budapest, Hungary held a diplomatic reception at the Museum of Military History on 12 June 2018 to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine independence.

The successful and well-attended event was graced by many members of the diplomatic and international community, officials of the Hungarian government, members of the academic institutions, businessmen and representatives of the private sector, and members of the Filipino Community.

In her keynote speech, Ambassador to Hungary Maria Fe T. Pangilinan touched on the history of the Philippine Republic, and the fast-paced developments and world-shaking events that occurred since 1898.

Ambassador Pangilinan spoke about the excellent relations between the Philippines and Hungary, noting various bilateral agreements that have been signed since she assumed office in 2016, and high-level exchange of visits among government officials.

The event also showcased the renowned musical talent and cuisine of the Philippines. “The Nightingales” duo Bianca Camille Lopez and Ma. Rhina Palma-Cruz enthralled the audience through their unique style of performing a wide range of songs using the bel canto style of singing. The two former soloists of the country’s premier choir, Philippine Madrigal Singers, sang a medley of Philippine folk songs, famous operas, and pop hits.

Mouthwatering and delicious Filipino dishes and desserts were served, which were all relished by the guests. END
