PH Embassy in Qatar Celebrates 120th Anniversary of PH Independence
DOHA 05 July 2018 – In celebration of the 120th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence on June 12, officials and staff of the Philippine Embassy in Doha gathered for a simple ceremony to commemorate the momentous occasion.
Ambassador Alan L. Timbayan led the ceremony, and read a very meaningful message from President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Encouraging the Filipinos to “battle the social ills of corruption, illegal drugs and criminality that impede our progress as a nation,” President Duterte also called on all Filipinos to cherish “the sovereignty that is borne out of the sweat and blood of our heroes, we stand firm and unwavering in our conviction to create a brighter and better future for all Filipinos-regardless of their status in life.”
The messages of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano and Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III were read by Consul General Roussel R. Reyes and Labor Attaché David Des Dicang, respectively. This was followed shortly by the cake cutting ceremony. END
