Illinois Governor Greets Filipinos During PH Independence Day Celebration

CHICAGO 13 July 2018 – Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner delivered a personal greeting to the Filipino Community in Illinois, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Philippine independence day.

Governor Rauner lauded the resilience and vibrancy of Filipinos in Illinois and in the United States Midwest. The Governor also paid tribute to the Filipino veterans of World War II for their valor and sacrifice, which were given due recognition by the awarding of the Filipino World War II U.S. Congressional Gold Medal last year.
The Illinois governor also graced and spoke before the Filipino-American Community present during the Philippine Independence Day celebration in Bolingbrook, Illinois dubbed “Piyesta Pinoy,” which was held on 09 June 2018. Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar was also one of the guest speakers of the Piyesta Pinoy. END
