PH Embassy in Muscat Holds Flag Raising Ceremony to Commemorate PH Independence Day
The Philippine Embassy in Muscat and the Filipino community in Oman sing the national anthem and pledge their loyalty to the Philippine flag upon its hoisting to commemorate the 121st Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence. Ambassador to Oman Narciso T. Castañeda and Madam Cleofe E. Castañeda ceremonially cut the cake with the Philippine flag design. Ambassador Castañeda welcomed the guests and encourage everyone gathered to reflect on the meaning of the annual commemoration. He mentioned the importance of inculcating among the present generation and future generations of Filipinos, not only knowledge of Philippine history and elements of Filipino culture, but the story that gave rise to them. The Ambassador added that this responsibility should be taken seriously by all Filipinos, including those who live and work abroad, because Filipinos should value the positive aspects of their Filipino identity and culture.
