DFA Consular Office in Zamboanga City Celebrates the 124th Philippine Independence Day
ZAMBOANGA CITY 13 June 2022 — The Consular Office in Zamboanga City, led by Head of Consular Office Maria Annette F. Aquino-Herrera, joined the nation in the commemorative celebration of the 124th Philippine Independence Day through a flag-raising ceremony in the morning of 13 June 2022 inside the consular office.
With the theme “Kalayaan 2022: Pagsuong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas” (Rise Towards the Challenge of a New Beginning), the program commenced with the remarks from HCO Aquino-Herrera, followed by the video messages of President Rodrigo R. Duterte and Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro L. Locsin Jr.
A simple breakfast of traditional Filipino food and native coffee was enjoyed by CO and Outsourced Personnel while watching a documentary on the history of the Philippine independence.
During the occasion, personnel wore native-designed face masks along with their uniform barong. The office is also decorated with Philippine fiesta-themed banners. END
