Filipino Community in Morocco Celebrates “Pistang Pinoy 2022”

RABAT 13 June 2022 – The embers of the Filipino community (FilCom) in Morocco organized, in cooperation with the Embassy, a whole-day “Pistang Pinoy 2022.” This Philippine food fair and community gathering at the Embassy grounds was the first event of its kind to be held at the Chancery.

The event was open to all Filipinos, locals and other nationalities and featured mini-stalls that showcased Philippine products and cuisine prepared by Filipinos from the cities of Rabat and nearby Casablanca, and Tangier.  

The Filipino community also showcased their talents in a singing competition mainly of Tagalog songs punctuated by intermission numbers of dance and impromptu singing.

The Filipino community also organized a raffle draw where partial proceeds of the ticket sales were donated in kind (as medicines) to Hôpital des Enfants Rabat, a hospital for children based in Rabat. 

Pistang Pinoy 2022 was preceded by a flag-raising ceremony and the reading of the 2022 Independence Day Messages of President Duterte, Secretary Locsin and DOLE Secretary Bello. END
