PH Embassy, Permanent Mission in Vienna Commemorates Independence Day

VIENNA 15 June 2022 – The Philippine Embassy and Permanent Mission in Vienna, led by Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) Irene Susan B. Natividad, organized a flag ceremony at the Chancery with the leaders of the Filipino community in Austria on 12 June 2022, to commemorate the 124th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence and National Flag Day.
Representatives of Filipino organizations in Austria attended the event which started off with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by the screening of the recorded National Day speeches of President Rodrigo R. Duterte and Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Loscin, Jr.
In her remarks, CDA Natividad emphasized that this is a day for every Filipino to show love for the country and unite in the desire for a peaceful and prosperous tomorrow for every Filipino. “Araw po ito upang ipakita ng bawat Pilipino ang pagmamahal sa bayan, at makiisa sa hangarin para sa isang mapayapa at maunlad na bukas para sa bawat Pilipino,” she said.
In the afternoon, CDA Natividad, together with Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul General Ivan Frank Olea, joined members of the Filipino community in a floral offering ceremony organized by the PH-Austrian Cultural and Educational Society (PACES) at the Rathausplatz, the seat of government in Vienna. The ceremony was held under a Catalpa tree, which was planted by the Filipino community to commemorate the centennial of Philippine independence in 1998.
A series of events will also be organized by various Filipino community associations in and around Austria to commemorate Independence Day in the coming weeks. END
