MADRID 17 June 2022 – On the 124th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence, Philippine Ambassador to Spain Philippe J. Lhuillier encouraged the Filipino Community in Spain and Andorra to think about what it means to be a Filipino in the diaspora, and how each person could take part in nation-building under a new administration helmed by President-elect Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., and Vice President-elect Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio. Inspired by the year´s theme of ¨Pagsuong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas¨, he called the Community to come together to support our elected public officials, and to unite as one country and one people.
The intimate flag-raising ceremony and breakfast to commemorate the 124th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence was held at the Embassy on 12 June 2022.
The flag-raising ceremony is the first one in three years that allowed for greater interaction between the Embassy and the Filipino community. A hearty Filipino breakfast was served to an enthusiastic Community who wore their Filipiniana best to the event. END
