OTTAWA 17 June 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa joined the Filipino Association in Montreal and Suburbs (FAMAS) and the Council of Canadian Filipino Association of Quebec (CCFAQ) in jointly celebrating the 124thanniversary of the declaration of Philippine independence and Filipino Heritage Month.
The Filipino diaspora across Canada is the second largest in the world. Their contributions to their adopted communities have earned praises from federal, provincial, and municipal governments in Canada. In recognition of the valuable role of the Filipino diaspora, the federal House of Commons unanimously adopted a motion to declare June of each year as Filipino Heritage Month across Canada. END
