PH Ambassador to UAE Leads Commemoration of 124th Proclamation of PH Independence with Solemn Flag-Raising Ceremony
ABU DHABI 17 June 2022 — Philippine Ambassador to UAE Hjayceelyn M. Quintana led the commemoration of the 124th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence with a solemn flag-raising ceremony on 12 June 2022 at the Philippine Embassy grounds in Abu Dhabi, joined by the Embassy, Consulate, POLO-OWWA and members of the Filipino community.
In her message, Amb. Quintana paid tribute to our forefathers whose supreme sacrifice made possible the birth of a free nation called the Philippines 124 years ago, and read the message of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for overseas Filipinos on this historic occasion. The message of Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr., was read by Consul General Renato N. Dueñas (Philippine Consulate General in Dubai), and the message of Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III was read by Labor Attaché Manuel Dimaano.
Representatives from the Filipino community organizations Philippine Business Council (PBC), the Order of the Knights of Rizal (OKOR Abu Dhabi Emarat Chapter), the Bayanihan Council and the Filipino Social Club (FILSOC) took part in the event.
This year’s Philippine Independence Day events in the UAE this year did not feature the usual musical numbers and concerts, as the Filipino community stands in solidarity with the UAE’s 40- day mourning period on the passing of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. END
