PH Embassy in London Hosts Diplomatic Reception, Flag-Raising Ceremony to Celebrate PH Independence Day 2022
LONDON 17 June 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in London marked the 124th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence with a flag-raising ceremony attended by the Embassy's entire personnel complement led by Ambassador Antonio M. Lagdameo and Mrs. Maria Linda F. Lagdameo.
In his remarks, Ambassador Lagdameo urged everyone to continue to persevere in not only preserving and protecting the country's sovereignty and independence, but also in putting in one's share in building a strong, stable, and sustainable Philippines, bearing in mind the sacrifices of our country's founders.
The Embassy also hosted its first in-person diplomatic reception after the COVID-19 pandemic at the East India Club on 13 June 2022. The reception was attended by representatives from Her Majesty's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), UK civil servants, members of London's diplomatic community, representatives from the Filipino community, and guests from the UK business and civil societies. Special Assistant-designate to the President-elect Mr. Antonio Ernesto “Anton” F. Lagdameo, Jr. also graced the occasion.
During the event, the Ambassador underscored that the launch of the Philippine-United Kingdom Enhanced Partnership in London in November 2021 by Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. and United Kingdom Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Liz Truss in celebration of the 75thanniversary of the Philippine-United Kingdom diplomatic relations is a testament to the steadfast commitment of the two countries to elevate bilateral relations and further strengthen cooperation. In his remarks, Ambassador Lagdameo also offered a toast to the good health and well-being of Her Majesty the Queen, to a deeper and closer friendship between the Filipino and British peoples, and to enduring Philippine-British relations. (London PE photo)
