PH Embassy in Manama Celebrates 124th Philippine Independence Day with the Filipino Community

MANAMA 20 June 2022 – As part of its commemorative activities for the 124th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in the Kingdom of Bahrain hosted a Flag-Raising Ceremony at the Embassy grounds on 10 June 2022.

The Flag-Raising Ceremony was followed by a program held inside the Embassy. In her welcome remarks, Philippine Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. to the Kingdom of Bahrain Anne Jalando-on Louis spoke of the significance of the 124th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence and its theme, “Pagsuong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas”. She also thanked the Filipino community leaders for their spirit of volunteerism and continued support for the Embassy’s various programs and activities.

Video messages on the occasion of the Philippine Independence Day by Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr., and Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani were also shown during the program.

The Independence Day message of Mr. Michael Regino. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Philippine Social Security System (SSS), as well as the message of Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III on the occasion of Migrant Worker’s Day on 07 June 2022 were also read at the event.

Special presentations were made by the Philippine Embassy personnel through the rendition of Filipino songs and a folk dance and the reading of a poem especially written for the occasion by Ms. Marissa Cruz, Administrative Staff of OWWA.

At the end of the program, the Embassy provided packed Filipino breakfast and fruits to the attendees.

In addition to the Embassy’s events, the Embassy also supported and attended the Philippine Independence Day celebrations organized by various Filipino community organizations and business establishments in Bahrain. On 10 to 12 June 2020, the Ramada Hotel & Suites by Wyndham in Amwaj Islands, Bahrain, commemorated Philippine Independence by featuring Filipino cuisine through their Filipino Friday Brunch, Boodle Fight, and Kalayaan 2022 Dinner.

The Embassy is also organizing a “Palo para sa Kalayaan” Golf Tournament to be held at the Royal Golf Club in Riffa, Bahrain, on 17 June 2022. END
