Diplomatic Luncheon Reception for Kalayaan 2022 Held in Osaka

OSAKA 22 June 2022 — Philippine Consul General in Osaka Voltaire D. Mauricio hosted a diplomatic luncheon reception on 14 and 15 June 2022 at the Atmos Dining, Conrad Hotel, Osaka.
The event, which commemorated the 124th anniversary of the proclamation of the declaration of Philippine Independence, was attended by 200 guests from the different diplomatic missions in the Kansai region and representatives from Japanese local governments and agencies, business groups, academic institutions, and Filipino-community organizations.
Consul General Mauricio read the Independence Day message of President Rodrigo R. Duterte, and thanked the Japanese government for its strong relations with the Philippines and mutually-beneficial economic partners in Asia.
Special congratulatory messages from the Osaka prefecture were delivered by Vice Governor Nobuhiko Yamaguchi and Vice Mayor Toru Takahashi as well as the Office of the Governor in Kochi (Osaka Office), Mr. Tatsuya Hamauzu.
Gracing the occasion was Hon. Tsutomu Himeno of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and currently designated as Ambassador In-Charge of Kansai. In his speech, Ambassador Himeno extolled the strong ties and friendly relations between the Philippines and Japan, citing both countries’ shared resolve to stay united and tackle present and future challenges together. Ambassador Himeno also commended the robust partnership between the two countries in undertaking various development initiatives, especially in infrastructure and technology, which continue to expand significantly.
During the event, Philippine Embassy in Tokyo Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr. Robespierre L. Bolivar, formally announced the Philippines’ participation in the World Expo 2025 under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” which will be held in Osaka-Kansai.
Consul General Mauricio led a ceremonial toast with Ambassador Himeno “for a brighter, more prosperous Philippines and enduring friendship between the two peoples.”
The event, in collaboration with the executive chef at Conrad Osaka, Mr. Ryan Sablan Dadufalza, also introduced the selection of prime, authentic Filipino dishes and delicacies from the buffet table.
The luncheon menu takes on a repertoire of famous Filipino food as Sinigang na Sugpo, Gintong Kinilaw, Manok Inasal, Inihaw na Baka and Lechon Kawali, among others. END
